TouchWindow Does Not Function

After installing the TouchWindow® driver and attempting to calibrate the TouchWindow®, the calibration program, the TouchWindow®, or both do not function as expected. An incomplete installation of the TouchWindow® driver can cause this issue. Uninstalling the Touch Screen Driver using Add/Remove programs, removing all .inf files for the TouchWindow® driver, and reinstalling the driver will help resolve the issue. Consult the remainder of this note for the procedure.

Complete the following procedures to resolve the issue.

Uninstall the Touch Screen Driver
  1. Disconnect the TouchWindow® from the computer.
  2. Close all windows and programs and return to the desktop.
  3. Click Start, select Settings and click Control Panel. For Windows® XP, click Start and click Control Panel. A Control Panel window will appear.
  4. Double-click Add/Remove Programs to open the Add/Remove Programs window.
  5. Locate the Touch Screen Driver or USB Touch Screen Driver in the list of installed programs and click on it once to select it.
  6. Click Add/Remove or Remove.
  7. Follow the onscreen prompts to uninstall the driver.
  8. Continue with the "Removing the .inf Files" procedure that follows.
Removing the .inf Files
  1. Close all windows and programs and return to the desktop.
  2. Click Start, select Search (or Find) and click Files or Folders. The Search (or Find) window will open. For Windows® XP, click Start and click Search. The Search window will open. Click the Search All Files and Folders option on the left in the Search window.
  3. Type tsharc*.inf in the Named: field.
  4. For Windows® XP, click More Advanced Options, click to place a check in the box by "Search hidden files and folders", and continue with Step 5. If Windows® XP is not in use, continue with Step 5.
  5. Click Search Now (or Find Now) to begin the search. When the search is complete, the results will appear in the right (or bottom) pane of the Search (or Find) window.
  6. Click Edit from the top menu bar and click Select All. All search results will be highlighted.
  7. Click File from the top menu bar and click Delete. If prompted to move the files to the Recycle Bin, click Yes.
  8. Click the "X" in the upper-right corner to close the Search (or Find) window.
  9. Right-click the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin from the dropdown menu.
  10. Continue with the "Installing the TouchWindow® Driver" procedure that follows.
